Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment is a procedure used in the treatment of teeth that have been damaged due to decay, trauma, or other reasons.

During the procedure, the infected or damaged inner part of the tooth is removed, the canals are cleaned, disinfected, and then filled with a filling material. This treatment ensures the preservation of the tooth and the relief of pain, contributing to maintaining a healthy oral structure.

Root canal treatment consists of the following steps:

1. **Anesthesia:** The dentist applies local anesthesia to ensure the patient’s comfort and lack of pain sensation.

2. **Access:** A hole is drilled into the damaged part of the tooth to gain access to the inside of the tooth.

3. **Pulp Removal:** The pulp tissue inside the tooth, root canals, and the inner part of the tooth are carefully removed with special tools.

4. **Cleaning and Disinfection:** The root canals are cleaned and disinfected with special canal irrigation solutions.

5. **Filling:** The cleaned and disinfected root canals are filled with a biologically compatible filling material (usually gutta-percha).

6. **Tooth Restoration:** After the inside of the tooth is completed, it is covered with a filling or crown, restoring the natural function of the tooth.

Root canal treatment allows the tooth to be saved by treating the infection in the tooth and avoiding extraction. When root canal treatment is successfully applied, the tooth can be used in a healthy manner for many years.
